Journal 3 Media representation and cultural stereotypes.
#Journal 3
Hey there, we are back again for more interesting content and updates in my journal. So for today journal, we will be discussing about media representation and cultural. Just like usual, I am going to answer the questions given to us Media Culture’s students.
For the first questions is “Can you think of an example of a stereotypical image in media that has caused harm? What about an example of no harm has been caused”. So I am just going to get straight to the point, We can see nowadays The fashion culture is growing rapidly. We can see a lot of beautiful model dressing in a very unique dress that attract people around the world. And most of this models has a very good shape of body regardless of men or women. I strongly believe that this happen because of advertising. Because if there are big fat guy wearing all all those beautiful cloth, no one are going to buy their product. And because of this there are problems regarding of over concerns of weight. Mostly the women are trying to diet too much which lead to unhealthy life.
The concern with fast weight loss is that it usually takes extraordinary efforts in diet and exercise — efforts that could be unhealthy and that you probably can't maintain as permanent lifestyle changes.
For example of no harm has been caused is, Media also describe that people that work hard will get their profit in variety of ways. We can see this a lot in drama and movies nowadays. This surely will cause no harm instead it help us get motivated and work much harder.
The second questions is “what’s the difference between these 2 examples?”. One difference that I found in these 2 stereotype image in media is that, the harm caused is much more related to reality life programs. While the one which cause no harm are much more related to the Drama series or movies in the television.
